Seeds of Love and Hope (as per the Spanish name) is a non-profit organization of CornerStone Neighbourhood Church (previously known as Albion Fellowship Baptist Church, Maple Ridge, BC, Canada), in sisterhood with the Covenant church “El Shaddai” (Medellin-Colombia), which is helping establish a centre to aid desperately needy children. Each year, more than 20,000 children die from hunger in Colombia, South America. Those lucky enough to survive face a world of limited choices. All too often, girls are forced to work in the sex trade while boys fall into the trap of organized crime. We cannot imagine those options for any child.

This is only one of many heart-breaking stories found in the “Nativity Hill” neighbourhood, in Medellin-Colombia; a place where Albion Fellowship Baptist Church is building a centre for children and families who live in very desperate conditions. On a recent trip to the area, as we were walking through “Nativity Hill” visiting with the people, we were told about a family of five children whose mother was rarely at home and whose father had abandoned them. As we entered their house and saw their miserable living conditions, we invited them to come to our property and join us for lunch. They came and ate the meal along with more than 100 children that we have been feeding twice a week since January of 2009. The nine year old girl, who has sole care for her 4 younger brothers, was very excited as she told us "we haven’t eaten anything yet today".
